 Hardware

Earlier we had an instance of the infamous Abit BP6 motherboard with two celerons running at 550MHz. The stability was awful, and the last week before we dumped it, it crashed some 8 times..

Now (since Wed Sep 12 17:50:01 EEST 2001) we have a brand new Asus A7V133-C motherboard with the cheapest duron we could get, which was a 750MHz one. It has been working excellently ever since it was first booted. The uptime of the first boot was 56 days (until we booted to upgrade the kernel).. a number we could only dream of with the old Abit mobo..

The server has got 520GB of diskspace and 512MB of ram. Additionally it contains a sound card, two network cards, a graphics card, a video digitizing card, a 250W power supply and a small tower case. The case cover later (early '02) got replaced by sound dampening material, and it is pretty quiet now.

As of 3.1.2005 the following hardware will be installed:

 Software

A long time ago, the server used Linux Mandrake 7.2 with the 2.4.14 kernel. The disks were been glued together with LVM and all partitions except /boot were reiserfs.

Now I have Gentoo Linux running 2.4.28. And LVM2 is in use instead. It will change to 2.6.10 when my new athlon64 gets installed.
